Selena's musical career began when she was eight years old. She joined a father-formed group. The group was comprised of Selena as well as her siblings Abraham junior who played the base guitar and Sister Suzette who played the drums and Selena was the vocalist of the band. The group was dubbed Selena Y Los Dino and she would perform along with her siblings at various bars restaurants wedding fairs and many other places. Selena The Los Dino band was a rather demanding group for Selena & her siblings. In the end, they did not get much of an opportunity to grow up. Abraham senior played in Los Dinos, the band which was the first to get it started. Selena Y Los Dinos officially was formed in 1981. It is the main company of the Quintanillas, and their primary source of revenue. The Quintanilla Family was determined to succeed despite the hard times and a financial difficulties at first. Selena Y Los Dinos achieved fame throughout the western states by the end of the 1980s. Selena won the Female Vocalist Award and the Performer's Award at the Tejano Awards in 1986. From that point on Selena Y Los Dinos were one of the most successful winners every year, and they gained popularity and recognition. Numerous Spanish programming like El Show De Johnny Canales every day in Domingo (Saturday night Gigante) and El Show De Johnny Canales always on Sunday were featured.
